Dear LNJ alumna,
Whether I've met you or not, you've been in my mind and
heart as I've been developing this conference. That's why
this page is for you.
Every woman I talk with who is going or has been through
Leadership New Jersey is curious…curious about life,
about people, about processes, about the human condition.
We share a desire to know what makes everything tick. We're
thinkers and organizers with enough passion to power all
of New Jersey if we knew how to do that!
Too often, however, leaders operate in overwhelm and, as
a result, do not enjoy the success in business they had
hoped for in the long run. Sometimes leaders mistake stress,
overwork and running faster and faster for what looks like
limitless energy and just possibly some identity. Much can
be done to support us as women leaders in terms of how we
view our careers, relationships and our roles and ultimately
how success can be achieved through business, if we so choose.
I believe work is an opportunity (as is the rest of life)
for full self-expression. As leaders, we look for, generate
or attract opportunities for growth naturally. Rarely will
we settle for the more comfortable route…or not want
to know what else is possible…or not explore other
ways to get things done.
Growth and success mean something different to each of
us. Regardless, they require a well thought out policy and
approach that energizes us for new learning and taking on
different and bigger responsibilities - personally and professionally
- without fear or hesitation.
